Hello, my name is Juanita Goble and I am a PCWCP, Morehead State University graduate of May, 2008. I have been on two interviews with the state but I have no job as of yet. My first interview was with Greenup County and did horrible through the interview. After five months of waiting for an interview, I became so nervous that it just took over during the interview. I wanted the job so bad that I just did a bad job. Recently, around Oct. 2nd, I had an interview with Boyd County, just like 25 minutes away but I just could not tell you how I did through the interview. Of course, I got nervous but what do you expect, I have been waiting for months on a job opening! I would like to know everyone's experiences through this whole situation. It is not what I thought it would be.

Hi, my name is Martina Wiseman and I am PCWCP graduate from Murray State University. I have had no interview yet. They have not pulled any registers for WKY. I heard today from a regional supervisor from a non-profit organization that works closely with DCBS that they officially are going to open up the lakes region for hiring. I have applied for a job with a private agency and they will let me know next week if I have the job. I do not know what to do because I would hate to start a job and then have to quit it in two months and at the same time I hate to sit around another six months without a job. What do I do? I am very frustrated and confused. I have e-mailed the people that I thought might have answers and they had no answers for me. I need to go on with my life. This is all crazy.

Hey Everyone. I know I told everyone my spill in the beginning, but I thought I would post it on here as well. I graduated from Brescia & did my field placement in Daviess County. I have had one interview which was in Grayson county (1 & 1/2 hours away). I have 3 more this month, Larue (2+hours), Breckinridge (1+hour), & Meade county (2+ hours).
The part that really upsets me is that PCWCP are still allowing individuals into the program. There are currently 5 PCWCP students in Daviess county's office and one graduates in December. Unsure of how I feel about all of that. It's definitely all a very sticky situation.

Hey PCWCPers. It's Naomi Duff from Hazard. I did my field placement in Perry County and just had an interview for there last week. That's exciting, but they also interviewed 9 other people.

I am frustrated because I have been refused 4 other jobs once they have heard of my contract. I wanted to be open and honest with them about my situation so I can understand why they wouldn't want to hire someone who might leave after two months.

So I have been substitute teaching, which is nice, but I would honestly like a job that will bring in a steady paycheck!

Keep in touch!
Naomi Duff

Hey guys, Cowann Owens here from Murray State. It is both frustrating and comforting to see that I am not alone in my struggles to attain a stable career via PCWCP. I love the program and appreciate all that it has done for me, but after holding out for 6 months scared to apply for a decent paying job with fears of having to up and quit any day, i am getting a bit impatient and honestly wish that if there are no jobs that they would release us from this contract. I've had a couple of interviews so far, one of them went REALLY well, but when I described this Social Service Worker II position to Sarah, i was told that it would not count toward my 2 year commitment because it is at Hazelwood, a place for physically and mentally handicaap people rather than children. This upset me because it was on the STATE WIDE REGISTRY, I did not actively apply for this place, so if why would I assume that if I get a letter from the cabinet for a "Social Service Worker II position as a Jefferson County Social Worker" that I would be wasting my time interviewing with them? Needless to say, I'm tired of waiting with my hands tied, so if they hire me then I intend to work there until told to do other wise because temp jobs just ain't cutting it! I have a wedding to pay for in less than 6 months and commitments to a fiancee and apartment in Louisville that I can't just up and abandon on a whime, so I dunno what they want from us... I hope that everything turns out well for everyone else, keep us posted!

Hey! Naomi again. I just want to let you know what happened last week!

So I had the interview at my local P & P office. They called me last Wednesday and asked me if I was 100% interested in the job. I said yes, that I had been waiting for months for this position. She went on to say that if I had any other interviews for any other job prospects, that my application would be pulled! She said they were picking their top 3 to send to Frankfort.

I had an interview the next day for a SSWI position at another state place. I had to cancel that interview in order to remain qualified for P & P.

I was very upset about this. So if I am not hired by P & P then I have lost out on a great opportunity with this other agency.

I just think this is a load of crap!

I spoke to Sarah WIlliams the end of September to ask if they will let us out of the program and she said that this will be addressed in December. She said that the situation is different now then what it was this spring and with the December graduate and the same thing MIGHT not apply at this point in time. The way I figure it the November 10th it has been six month since graduation and I have not had one interview. What are we to do?

Hey everyone! I went today for an interview in Larue county. Then I received a call from Grayson county, which they offered me the position. I am scheduled to start 11/12, which gives me a little time to find a place since it's 1 & 1/2 hours away. I asked the people at Larue county if they knew anything about the hiring process & any info I could pass along that would be helpful & encouraging. They reported for all PCWCPers to examine their applications making sure that PCWCP along with their experiences were on there. Hope this info helps! It's a very frustrating situation. Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm Nathan Futrell from Murray State, May 2008 graduate. I did my field placement in McCracken County. I interviewed for a position in Campbell County in early September, and last Thursday I got hired for the investigations team! I'm still working on my last two weeks at my current job, then preparing to move 300+ miles across the state..

For those of you interested in western KY, my friends in McCracken County (Paducah) have told me that up to 3 ongoing P&P positions could becoming available soon.

I guess this blog was short lived. Too bad, because I would have liked to have heard other's stories about interview and job hunts.

Well, I stuck it out as long as I could, but as it turns out DCBS is not the place for me. I turned in my resignation on Friday and have been in contact with Sarah Williams to pay back my contract. So, if anyone has any questions about the process of getting out of your contract, feel free to e-mail me and I'll be glad to tell you about my experiences.
